Aiming for Poland
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) students made it to the finals of the ‘Research Challenge’ organized by the CFA Institute, one of the most respected organizations in the field of finance worldwide. A team of 5 students made a financial analysis of a company and turned it into a report in the competition where 31 teams from 25 universities participated. IUE students received full marks from the jury in many areas such as analysis skills, risk assessment and sectoral foresight. IUE Faculty of Business, Department of International Trade and Finance has achieved a series of success that is hard to achieve by making it to the finals for the third time in the last 4 years.
The team, consisting of IUE Department of International Trade and Finance students Yiğitcan Alabaş and Arda Türkcan Kurtoğlu, Department of Business Administration student Doğucan İncesu, Business Administration graduate student Richie Vinoth Ramanan and Financial Economics graduate student Mücahit Zor, became one of the 5 teams that will take part in the final to be held in Istanbul on February 16.
PRESENTED TO THE JURY
The competing teams analyzed the company's investment risks, stock valuation, industry analysis and environmental, social and governance-based investments (ESG performance). IUE students completed their analysis and submitted their report to the jury. As a result of the evaluation, the IUE team received a passing grade from the jury and made it to the finals. If they reach the first place in the final, IUE students will be eligible to participate in the Regional Championship in Poland, where teams from different countries will take part.
SUCCESS HAS BECOME A TRADITION
Prof. Dr. Berna Aydoğan, Vice Dean of IUE Faculty of Business Administration, Lecturer at Department of International Trade and Finance, said, “Our students did not let us down again this year and achieved a proud success. In addition to IUE, Koç University, Bahçeşehir University, METU and Yeditepe University were among the universities that made it to the finals. I strongly believe that our students will come first in the final and represent us successfully in Europe. This is the third time in the last four years that we have reached the finals with different teams. I am proud to say that success has become a tradition for us. Our students have proved that they have developed themselves in the best way possible at the University and received a comprehensive education that meets the requirements of the age.”
