‘Blue crab’ brought award
Many ambitious projects from across Turkey participated in the Interuniversity Logistics Case Competition, which was organized in collaboration with the Logistics Association (LODER) and Mars Logistics. The competition was held in three different categories. IUE students competed in Category A, which included students enrolled in undergraduate programs with "logistics" in their titles.
The students, who worked diligently to earn the award, distinguished themselves by turning the theoretical knowledge they gained at university into practical, and by developing intelligent solutions. The young team brought the award to Izmir by approaching the case study with precision in areas such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, holistic perspective, supply chain, and warehouse management.
WE GAINED EXPERIENCE AND ESTABLISHED NETWORK
Expressing their happiness in receiving the award, IUE Logistics management fourth-year students Hüseyin Sabuncu, Özkan Öztürk, and Nazım Berktuğ Aşer said, “To be honest, we were expecting first place, but we missed it by a small margin. Of course, second place isn’t bad either. The competition gave us a lot in terms of experience and testing ourselves. We also better understood the importance of time and stress management thanks to the competition. It was an opportunity to network and enhance our CVs, and we believe we made good use of it.”
GROWING DEMAND
Emphasizing the rapidly increasing need for well-equipped individuals to work in logistics management and supply chain, Prof. Dr. Özgür Özpeynirci, Head of IUE Department of Logistics Management said, “Making the right decisions in logistics management is extremely important for a business. The effects of the pandemic we recently experienced, the global economic crisis, geopolitical bottlenecks, wars, the climate crisis, and natural disasters have all reminded us of the importance of logistics management again. Making the right decisions can only be possible with logistics and supply chain education provided at a global standard. At this point, I believe we are fulfilling our duty and that our department is highly successful. In addition to the achievements of our graduates, the award won by our students proves this. I congratulate the students who represented our University in the best way, and I wish them continued success.”
